In preparation of outdoor spaces for the summer, there is nothing more exciting than being frugal about it. I have a mix; from some of my very old iron patio seating to roadside and thrift shop upcycles. Each summer, I add or change things to make our outdoor living spaces come together.
|
This year we are adding our "new" curb alert pieces. Road Rescue! |
|
A little cleaning and painting for a new life at a new home. |
|
This bar stool will be added to a high top piece I built last summer. I'll add that post later when I finish the concrete countertop. |
|
Just a couple of coats of outdoor black spray paint... |
|
made these road side pieces match up with my old wrought iron set. (I'll be posting the whole deck and patio tour here soon.) |
|
Discarded and old is wanted and new again. |
|
Then at the same time, my thrift shop snag to add to the mix is this iron scrolled coffee table. Patio perfect! |
|
Well, not perfect yet. Red splattered touches aren't my style. It looks like it came from a TV crime scene. |
|
Black to go with the rest of my mix and match outdoor space. |
|
Our older camp chair was green. Spray paint changed that too while I was at it. |
|
Now, placed on the deck at my grilling area.
(I'm the grill-cook-queen and I wanted to have a little setting in the grill-throne-zone. The "grill throne" is recycled landscaping block and then a concrete pour project along with some lattice panels. A how to and photos to follow. ) |
|
This became perfect for sipping lemonade or wine while grilling dinner. |

ReplyDeleteThat table is so cool! I love seeing these types of thrift store rescues. Thanks for linking up at Creative Spark!
ReplyDeleteNo wayyyy! You always make something look like it can be bought right at one of these stores or from a store magazine! I love what you did with these! I really want to look into doing things like this for sure when we get new furniture. People give away perfectly great items that we just have to spruce up a bit. You make it look so easy. You inspire me. Thank you for sharing this with us at the Creative Style Linkup!
ReplyDeleteYou are welcome to come to my house anytime and do what you just did. I've been on the lookout for the furniture I'm wanting, but haven't had any luck yet. Thanks for the encouragement to keep looking, sometimes in places I may not have thought to do otherwise.
ReplyDeleteDid the table come with the glass top or did you have to find a new one?
(stopping by from the SHINE blog hop.)
You inspire me to look at old furniture in new ways.
ReplyDeleteSounds like you had a lucky find. I love when you can bring new life to old things like this. Thank you for sharing at The Creative Exchange party.

week :)
Thank you, Theresa! :)
ReplyDeleteThanks, Shanice! I'll certainly try to.
ReplyDeleteOutdoor living spaces can get pricey and this is the funnest frugal to do!
ReplyDelete:)
Ha! The red splatters were kind of strange for me and it was all I could think of LOL! Thanks so much, Christine :)
ReplyDeleteI'd love to do this for you! It's always fun to see end results with "freshening up".
ReplyDeleteThe glass top did come with the iron table, which made it a huge savings for me. The price tag for the murder scene was $45., which is well worth it for the value of the base alone. These don't always make it to thrift shops; I think yard sales and craigslist posts are the best places for this type of find. I was just very lucky to snag it the day it came into the thrift shop.
Thank you, Rea! :)
ReplyDeleteoxo
What an awesome transformation. I would like to drive down the roads you drive down. What awesome finds. Thanks for sharing this.
ReplyDeleteI love how everything looks! I can't believe how easy it is to make things match, I will definitely try to give new life to things before I throw them out. :) Stopping by from the June Hobnob
ReplyDeleteIt's amazing how old can be turned into new with a vision... and to be lucky it was during curb week. Thanks so much, Trish!
ReplyDeleteAnything can match with the magic of paint. Indoor or outdoor furniture and accents. I brought with me 25 year old wrought iron furniture, to mix with inherited aluminum left behind at our bought home. Then bringing in curb and thrift finds just by painting the same and sewing cushion coverings all of the same fabric to match it up. Anyone can do this whether a bedroom furniture put together or outdoor living space. I encourage you to keep yours or pick up non matching to paint to match. It is amazing! I'm so glad you are willing to give pieces a try.
ReplyDeleteWow, my brother does stuff like this. He finds things and gives them life again. Wow, you're stuff really looks good. I love what you did with everything. Hi & Happy Fourth to you. I'm following all your social networks I could find. I'm hailing in from Heartsie something... hehehe first time there doing this. Hope I'm doing it right! Have a great weekend.
ReplyDeleteI'd love to see what your brother does! This type of hobby can be an addicting habit :)

This patio furniture turned out fantastic. I really love the cushions and the pattern. I wish I was good at redoing furniture like this. http://dorightgardens.com/PatioFurnitureSets
ReplyDeleteSeeing this is really making me want to get some outdoor patio furniture. I spend too little time outdoors and having a good set would probably help me get more vitamin D and a tan. Those seem like a great combination to me!
