Updated Vintage Dropleaf Table

I bought this drop leaf table at a thrift shop. It's a vintage rustic knotty pine Ethan Allen side table, with drop-leaf sides, a slender front drawer with white porcelain pull and scrolled end legs. Opening the side leaves, the table top opens to a nice large 42" diameter. But it's quite dated.

And, the table top was in really rough shape.

Deciding on two tone, I used Liquorice paint and clear wax for the base and drawer.

Then sanded down the top to refinish it. It was meant to be a rustic and aged piece. It has a lot of manufactured dings and marks, so I left them.

I gave it a warm tone with a red tint stain. (Gunstock)

Then I added a new drawer pull to change out the dated white porcelain. This pretty brass gives the drawer a classier look.

I used gift wrap paper to decoupage onto the inside of the drawer.

Then used polyurethane to coat the table top.

Still keeping the character of the table, the new two tone gave it an entirely new look.

It's much better and so functional.
