Holiday Magazine My Way Challenge Blog Tour
When Katherine invited us to join in her Holiday Magazine Challenge, I was overwhelmed with so many ideas! There is a huge history of holiday magazine covers to choose from!
Back in November Katherine, from Katherines Corner, invited her readers to join her in what she hoped would become an annual event, the Holiday Magazine My Way Challenge. The instructions were to use a new or old holiday magazine cover (November/December) as our inspiration. Recreate it our way- by creating a copy using our own items. Or recreate the cover with our vision.
My theme is "Deck the Halls with Country".
The Christmas tree is decorated with nature-inspired ornaments.
I made the rustic cloth ornaments with iron on graphics.
Several animals are made from natural elements.
And pine cones are scattered throughout the tree.
Bringing nature indoors wasn't the only country inspiration. A weathered vintage sled and an old wagon wheel accent the area.
Other natural elements are combined as a wall vignette.
Cozy textures are thrown into the mix with faux fur projects (rug, pillow covers, and a throw).
Dried sedum was gathered up from the fall gardens and put into a burlap lined basket with red berry sprigs to brighten it up.
I designed and printed vintage deer gift tags for presents to go with the theme.
For the cover recreation, I liked the chair and tree concept in most of my choices.
Combining both to create it my way and with what I have available is this...
This challenge was so much fun that I would love to try it with each holiday and every room in the house!
