Girly Glam Nightstand

It's time for another amazing Fab Furniture Flippin' Contest! This month the theme is  "Make A Statement" - go bold or go home!

DecoArt, Inc. is our sponsor for this month. They offer a comprehensive line of products for just about any kind of DIY project. Check out their color palette of Chalky Finish paint!

Using Americana Decor™ Chalky Finish paint, and Americana Decor®  Clear Creme Wax, I "glammed" up a broken plain old nightstand.

It was really beat up, so I had to put it together before sanding and prepping it for paint.

It took a lot of sanding with a palm sander to get most of the gouging off.

Then I started painting.

DecoArt supplied me one 16oz jar of Americana Decor™ Chalky Finish paint in "Carbon" (black) and one 16 oz. jar of Clear Creme Wax.

I also used "Everlasting" (white) and "Innocence" (pink).

I put a lot of design element into the overall piece to make a bold statement.  I even added some animal stripes and polka dots in the drawer.

Once all of the paint was dried thoroughly, I applied the clear wax for durability.

To make the painted design stand out, the contrasting colors are used on different highlighted areas of the nightstand.

I painted polka dots on the drawer knob.

Stripes on both sides of the table.

Polka dots on the back of the stand.

Diamonds on the top.

And the drawer is painted pink while the animal print paper napkins are decoupaged onto the bottom.

The leg turns and feet are painted with contrasting pink and black.

The lighting is very poor with the gloomy snow and rain lately... it's really nicer in person than the photos. The room has "yellow" lights.

Anyway...What do you think? Bold, but still classy?

Great bedroom piece for the girly girl, isn't it?

Disclosure: Contest is sponsored by DecoArt and one jar of paint and one jar of creme wax was supplied to use for my project.
The contest hosts are Evey at Evey's Creations and Stacy at Anastasia Vintage
