Friday Five: Fabulous Furniture Features No. 13

Welcome to

This is where I share my five favorites that I scouted out during the week.

Ready for some

oh my's and wow's?

In no particular order because they are each,  just too splendid,  please enjoy these fabulous works.

Ornate Side Table

by Debra at

Stunning.

I really LOVE how the badly veneered top became an interesting beauty on this very ornate table. Between the work of the original underwood on the top and those interesting carvings, it screams beautiful texture. Debra did a splendid job turning a sad piece into this amazing state... of which... I want! Such a stunning table. You can see her entire post at A French Touch.

HAND PAINTED & DISTRESSED COUNTRY FRENCH CABINET WITH BIRD & NEST ARTWORK

by Lynda at

Masterpiece.

It's one thing to paint furniture but another to add art to it. Lynda turned this antique hutch and buffet into a French Country masterpiece. The bird and nest on the doors are now proudly the main subject! Lynda does a lot of artwork with her pieces that you can see at Lynda Bergman, Decorative Artisan

(GASP!) Wow! I started to feature the table below, but when I saw this...it became a bonus feature! Beefy, curvy, gorgeous, and just boldly beautiful! I have never seen such drama on a chest of drawers before. The overall shape reminds me of a heart.

Unbelievable.

Look at the work on the table top. Added to the gorgeous ornate base, it became a beautiful marriage. When I saw this in my Facebook feed, I chased it down to get the details from 2nd Door On the Right.  That is when I saw so many jaw dropping pieces of work. You may want to check them out and follow on Facebook. You'll be pleasantly surprised at the work posted.

SHADES OF GRAY, PART 1: THE CAST-OFF CHAIR

by Stacy and Eric at

Perfection.

Shades of gray never looked better. I can't believe how perfect the fabric is for this stunning chair. I don't know what I like best the backrest or the legs on the chair! Painted and reupholstered without overlooking any details, Stacy offers great tips of how it's done posted at Anastasia Vintage. The husband and wife team have a lot of beautiful work!

Salem Red Empire

by Helen at

Timeless.

I love empires. This one truly stands out. The colors of this work turned out quite nicely. The heavy distressing makes it a rustic, but classic, beauty. Helen describes what she did and how at Picked and Painted.

Most Popular DIY Posts of 2014

Wow, a new year is upon us already!

Sometimes it feels like I've been posting and blog mingling for years, but I can't believe I started just over a year ago.  Thanks to all of my readers and friends during 2014, I've obtained goals and planned new ones.

It's been fun and sometimes challenging, transforming furniture pieces and repurposing items into new life. It's been so exciting to be able to create and share that I can't imagine doing anything else.  When readers appreciate my posts and share thoughts and ideas with me, the entire process is quite rewarding! It seems as though our DIY community has become one big family. I can't wait to see what we do together in the next year!

Before we enter 2015, here are the top ten viewed posts over this year:

 Number 10 (tie): Upcycled Footstool
A cute little footstool that became upcycled with paint and recycled belts. Super easy and fun project!

Number 10 (tie):
 70's Coffee Table went Southwest
I loved turning this topless coffee table into a southwestern piece with pallet wood. The turquoise color and wood distressing went well together.

Number 9:
Thrift Store and Road Rescue Outdoor Furniture Redos
Some road rescue and thrift store finds became new makeovers for our patio and decks.

Number 8: Cut the Cord Part 2, Solar Lighting
Several regular indoor and outdoor light fixtures became solarized by cutting cords and using some waterproofing with a little creativity.

Number 7: Coffee Table Repurposed into Kitchen Island
Our former coffee table became repurposed when I built a base for it and turned it into a kitchen island.

Number 6: Updated Brass Chandelier

A thrift store score! An outdated brass lamp got a makeover to use in our "antiquish" dining room.

Number 5: Topless End Tables Redo

A pair of thrift shop end tables were a bargain because they were missing glass tops. Using craft paper, I made faux leather tops to add them to our livingroom.

Number 4: Trash to Treasure Spa Tub Redo

This Craigslist find was a freebie. I used bondo to repair the leak problem and gave it a paint job while hubby added the new tub siding.

Number 3: Junkyard Step Chair Redo

Looking for a fender for my truck, hubby brought me this vintage step chair from a junkyard. After I finished sanding and painting it, I added a thrift shop faux leather skirt and some belts to get this new industrial look for only... $11.00 !

Number 2: Thrift Store Toy Horse Upcycled into a Garden Sculpture

A mangled hair and mane plastic toy horse was a blast to make into an outdoor garden sculpture. As it appears to be cast iron, but underneath the paint job,  it is a toy with plaster of paris and exterior caulking.

And the number one viewed is:
Repurposed Treadle Sewing Machine Base.

A badly damaged sewing machine became utilized by using the base for an upcycled table. (The other parts went to a recent treadle machine repair.)

My own favorite of the year:

Roadside rescue table. I loved how it turned out and of course, the color.

Being amazed at everyone's interest and delighted with all of the kind comments, I'm so grateful and looking forward to sharing 2015 with you.

Thank you for a wonderful 2014!

Happy New Year!

Friday Five: Fabulous Furniture Features No. 12

Welcome to

This is where I share my five favorites that I scouted out during the week.

Ready for some

oh my's and wow's?

In no particular order because they are each,  just too splendid,  please enjoy these fabulous works.

My Favorite Furniture Color: Aqua

by Larissa at

Gasp!

I love two tone furniture. It brings more character to a piece while defining the workmanship, but Larissa made this tri-tone and I love it! After seeing this side table post a few times during the week and it still stole my heart each time, I have to share it myself. The before photos of the veneer top posted at Prodigal Pieces will amaze you! Larissa did a wonderful job bringing this back to life.

A Painted Antique Desk Makes the Grade

by Angie at

Grand!

What a gorgeous combination of paint and wood! Angie paid attention to every detail while redoing this grand desk. The routed edging on the beautiful desktop defines its structure. Love the warm stain color. This is another unbelievable "after" piece of work at Postcards From the Ridge

Blue French Buffet and The Peacock Room

by Martha at

Dreamy

Such a warm finish. A peacock blend of colors... the hint of warm wood peeking through that gorgeous blue drew me in... and then there was that surprise of green inside. This buffet was born from the peacock inspired room at Martha Leone Design. You must visit!

Vintage Shabby French Dresser
by

Charming!

I'm a sucker for chunky carving and curves. This French dresser has it all; even a matching mirror. Did you catch that apron across the front, tying in those ornate legs together? I love the creamy two tone with the layers peeking through. More photos and other works are posted at Charmed by Vintage.

Antique Pedestal Table in Linen

by Lisa at

Happy

That's what Lisa said at Create Inspire when she completed this antique baby! And this table does say happy to me. The creamy colors of the drawer and that knob...
I'm going to say it again... that knob! It's gorgeous and certainly fits this table perfectly!  All of Lisa's contemplating and determination turned out beautifully.

If you are following along these Friday Favorites, I just want you to know there is going to be a two week break to observe the holidays and to allow me to catch up on home projects. Post number 13 will be here on January 2nd.

In the meantime, Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
