Farmhouse Pulley and Bucket Planter

Summer annuals and outdoor herbs are pretty much finished for the winter months. So, I had these two galvanized buckets to put away. But, I was lucky to get this wonderful pulley from my husband and I just had to put it to use right away! 

Attaching the buckets could make an all season planter. 

All that is needed is the pulley, two buckets, and a rope to hang them. That's it! It's easy DIY and cute farmhouse style decor at the front entrance. 

The scrap rope I had was too light to look as aged as the rest of my materials. I dyed it in a black walnut bath that I reserved from my walnut shell project that you can see here. 

After staining the rope, I hung it to dry so I could handle it without staining my hands. 

Then, ran the rope through the pulley to attach the buckets to each side. 

Double knotting the rope to the bucket handles secured them onto the pulley. 

For the holiday season, I added some seasonal sprigs to add color to the front entrance.

What's great about this new fixture is how it can be decorated for every season. 

 I can already envision flowing buckets of flowers in the spring and summer. 

For now, I'll keep it decorated for Christmas. After that, maybe some twigs and pine cones for the rest of the winter months. 

This was so fast and easy to put together. 

I love how it's a warm welcome at our entry area.  Maybe another pulley gift is in the future. Adding one at the garden shed would be nice!

Farmhouse Vegetable Stand

I found this blanket rack at a local flea market and was determined to flip it into a farmhouse vegetable stand for our kitchen. Especially now during the peak of garden season. Imagine a veggie stand... farm style in the kitchen. Crazy fun, isn't it? 

I started with removing the top rod and replacing it onto the bottom of the rack. Then, cleaning the blanket rack and giving it a coat of Milk Paint Extra-Bond for painting. Because I didn't sand to keep the stain and finish for distressing purposes, the milk paint adheres with the bonding agent.

Disclosure: The OFMP Company generously supplied products to each participant for this contest. I received two powdered pints of the ‪‎Old Fashioned Milk Paint, one container of Daddy Van's Wax, and bottle of  Extra-Bond.  Although this post is considered sponsored, all opinions are 100% my own.

After the Extra-Bond dried, I painted the rack with one coat of Snow White OFMP, followed by a coat of Oyster White OFMP. (tinted slightly with a bit of gray) 

When thoroughly dried, I distressed the rack and drew on farm images on each side panel. 

Finally, applied Daddy Van's Antique Brown Wax over the distressed areas and giving the stand an old "used around the farm" look. 

Then the fun part! Finished off the veggie and fruit stand with wire baskets! Added the yummy goods and done! 

Have an apple or grab those veggies to make dinner all Farmhouse style! It's a super space for storage. 

It's a fun and farmhouse style to keep produce without cluttering up the counters. Having this kind of storage is just kitchen satisfaction! Easy access for cooking and eating. I have another blanket rack. But that will be turned into a saddle rack. Repurposing and paint certainly makes needed things new and functional without breaking the budget. It's furniture flippin fun!

Country Living Fair 2016

The Fair season is in full tilt!
It was absolutely perfect weather for a Fair the past couple of days. The Country Living Fair is nestled in the Hudson Valley right now and it's chock full of amazing finds, ideas, and talent!

Be still my heart. 

Farm ART! 

I love the bandana decor theme. And along the vending booths are some real show stoppers!

OH EM GEE! A leather upholstered carriage bench!!!

Great ideas and crafting supplies.

Repurposed doors, windows and other architectural creations.
And, too many booths of amazing work to get all gah-gah about.
Wagner is there with spray painting demos and tryouts. (Loved the color this lady chose.)

Hundreds of booths and tons of country living eye candy!

And more  WOW!

Gah! Look at this display creation in red! Super creative isn't it? The museum and some antique vendors stopped me in my tracks too often to count.

Painted furniture... everywhere.

This old wooden truck was being worked on in a garage area behind the museum. 

Just around the corner, the blacksmith guide was very knowledgeable. We gained some tips and news about some upcoming events.  (Yes, he is cropped out. Someone else did not want his photo included, so this is what I can show. But, I can relate, I'm not photogenic either.)

From the outside of the booths, it looks lightly populated.

But I can tell you... it's standing room only IN the booths!
I could hardly get photos done.

Catching live cooking shows is fun and full of personality! The Fabulous Beekman Boys, Josh and Brent were fantastic with tips about cooking with fennel yesterday.

Oh, and the food of course, was delicious everywhere. We really enjoyed the London Broil sandwiches. The Lime Fizz was very refreshing. I'm going to make some myself at home. It's a nice break from lemonaid.

Special home goods like pickles and sauces were also very yummy. We just HAD to bring some home.

Happy to report... I already put this Hot Raspberry Chili syrup on greek yogurt this morning. Oh man, what a breakfast treat that was!

Mama didn't get a new pair of shoes, but sure did become a fashion statement with some new summer attire... like this lacy cowgirl top and light sweater. Top Shelf Jewelry makes everyone feel special with their linen bags to take your new treasures home. Check out the sweet key charm bracelets the clerk gave me! Too sweet!

You can spend each day and not see everything. If you're like me, you take your time scoping out all that you adore and the day is already over. I've got lots more photos but the post is long enough.

We left before dinner time to hit up some of our usual favorites in the Hudson Valley. Farm stands and other flea markets were still open. So off we went.
