Bunny Redo

I only have a few Easter things I have used outdoors to accent the entrance over the years.  A "chocolate" rabbit, a tulip basket and a craft wreath.

Mr. Rabbit has several chips from his ear to his feet.
The eggs in his basket are faded.

The crafty wreath is missing some wooden
flowers and silk ones as well.

I just happened to stop at the thrift
shop to snag up this floral and pear swag.

Completely surprising myself, this adorable

bird and nest was perfect for Mr. Rabbit.

Mr. Rabbit was going from brunette to blonde... or chocolate to vanilla ~

Then clear coated.  Ut-oh... chemical reaction ...

The appearance of light terra cotta color was bleeding through the paint.

Well that was an accident that may have been nice to happen!

While allowing  Mr. Rabbit to dry, I worked on the wreath.  I glued the floral swag onto it and added plastic eggs.  I also  utilized Mr. Rabbit's faded eggs, making this little rabbit appear as though he is carrying a heavy load.

Mr. Rabbit dried and since he appeared "vintage" I added a beige tulle bow around his neck.

I attached  the nest with hot glue.

Added a toothpick to my legless bird...

and glued her into the nest so her tail could hang over.

Setting up our Easter accents at the door, made me run back into the house with the rabbit.

He wasn't finished.

He was just too light or lacking definition for the accidental "vintage" look.  So I removed everything and bathed him in oak wood stain. Wiped it down, leaving some of the stain remnants into the lines and grooves.

After a day of completely drying, he was ready for the Holiday weekend.
Finally, he had the real vintage look.

And the little bird,  my favorite part of the project,
sitting there, all pretty like.

Happy Easter!
